About Me

My path to becoming a Mental Health Provider started I found sobriety and needed to find new ways to deal with my own trauma. Trauma is at the heart of addiction, anxiety, and depression and affects our lives in so many ways. Intergenerational Trauma magnifies generations of shame and the learning of harmful coping skills and ways of communicating that destroys not only individuals, but families, as well.

I am direct, but I also understand that everyone works at their own pace and we can go as fast or slow as you need to process. There is no set time for processing trauma, nor is there a specific path to treat it. Changing behavior can start with gaining insight and then changing our perspective towards others and the world around us.

My Vision

I have been trained in numerous courses for trauma, addiction, and anxiety: IFS, EMDR, Somatic, TCBT, visualization and meditation. I continue to expand my skills and vision in order to help others and find connection. There is no ‘one size fits all’ in life or therapy.

Mitzi has done countless work with me for months to help unravel personal traumas, evaluate how they’ve affected me and has been very thorough about what I can do to change outdated behaviors. I’m not sure where I’d be without her, she is amazing.

I worked with Mitzi Burton for several years, and I can honestly say that her support made a huge difference in my life. She helped me work through some of the most difficult experiences I've faced—trauma, addiction recovery, and learning how to understand and manage my emotions. Mitzi always made me feel heard and respected. She created a safe space where I could be honest, even when things were hard to talk about. She didn’t rush the process, and she met me with patience, consistency, and genuine care. Through our work together, I learned how to recognize patterns, develop healthier ways to cope, and build a stronger sense of self. I felt supported every step of the way.

I’m deeply grateful for everything Mitzi has done for me, and I would strongly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, reliable, and skilled therapist.
